  4. If you feel that package installation by apt-get or aptitude is often too slow on your Debian or Ubuntu system, there are several ways to improve the situation. Have you considered switching default mirror sites being used? Have you checked the upstream bandwidth of your Internet connection to see if that is the bottleneck?

  5. Welcome to TurnServer project - open-source TURN server implementation.

This protocol allows a client to obtain IP addresses and ports from such a relay. It is most useful for elements behind symmetric NATs or firewalls that wish to be on the receiving end of a connection to a single peer.

  6. cjdns is a routing engine designed for security, scalability, speed and ease of use. The dream: You type ./cjdroute and give it an interface which connects another node and it gives you an ipv6 address generated from a public encryption key and a virtual network card (TUN device) which you can use to send packets to anyone in the cjdns network to which you are connected.

  8. NetHogs is a small 'net top' tool. Instead of breaking the traffic down per protocol or per subnet, like most tools do, it groups bandwidth by process. NetHogs does not rely on a special kernel module to be loaded. If there's suddenly a lot of network traffic, you can fire up NetHogs and immediately see which PID is causing this. This makes it easy to indentify programs that have gone wild and are suddenly taking up your bandwidth.
